Comprehensive Eye Exams

Refraction, ocular health, IOP, and OCT or retinal imaging where indicated. The exam scheduled for clinical time, not throughput.

What we do

Comprehensive Eye Exams.

A comprehensive eye exam at Puget Sound Eye Care is the foundation of clinical care. It is not a refraction with a vision test bolted on — it is a forty-five to sixty minute assessment of every structure in the eye plus the visual system that drives it.

We measure refractive error with both autorefraction and subjective refraction. We check binocular alignment and accommodation. We measure intraocular pressure. We examine the front of the eye at the slit lamp, dilate the pupil where indicated, and view the retina and optic nerve. When something needs more imaging — an OCT scan of the macula or optic nerve, a fundus photograph, a topography map — it is performed in the same visit, not punted to a follow-up.

What this looks like for the patient: time. The exam is scheduled for the work it requires, and the doctor will explain what they found before you leave the chair.
